Joel Warren
Bass Guitar
Joel Warren - Trumansburg, NY. Being the senior member of the group, has led a varied and colorful life. He began his musical career in 1960 at the age of 11. Prior, his instruments were trumpet, piano and guitar. Several small bands (and 11 years later) he joined forces with National Recording Artist Bobby Comstock. As a member of the Bobby Comstock Band he toured extensively playing every major arena in the US and Canada. As the road show band for “Richard Nader’s Rock and Roll Revival Show” they accompanied everyone from Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Roy Orbison to Peter Noone aka Herman’s Hermits and from Wilson Pickett to the Supremes. He and Bob became members of the 1960’s vocal and percussion group The Strange Love’s performing their hits: I Want Candy and Night Time, among others. During the “spaces” between tours he spent his time working on antique clock restorations and repairs. With his woodworking, hand carving and machining skills he gained national notoriety as the “go to” guy for high quality components. Over the years he garnered three National Clock Making Competition First Place and People’s Choice awards. Some of his clocks are in museums on permanent display. Joel also published a 257 page book “Ithaca’s Clock Makers” selling out six printings. With his skills, he designed, fabricated and installed some of the Landmark facades in downtown Ithaca. After all that, his friend Neal Massa, also a prior member of The Bobby Comstock group, approached him with…”let’s do one last band”. Hmmm…unable to say no…here we are.
After all that, still, one of his proudest musical accomplishments is his 18 Madison Square Garden Shows with Bob and Chuck Berry.
